Scott Everett tells Train4TradeSkills Radio about his plumbing course

So Scott, what were you doing before Train4TradeSkills?

I’m actually working for a company off Sainsbury’s repairing food cages. I’ve been doing that for about a year and a half.

You’re training to be a plumber. Have you always been interested in plumbing?

Yes, I have to be honest. I didn’t know how to get into it, so I went on the website and somebody contacted me and it’s gone on from there.

How are you finding the practical training?

Very well – very good indeed.

What sort of jobs are you doing this week then?

We’re fitting a bathroom this week.

What do you think of the tutors – are they helping you out?

Yeah our tutor’s Graham – he’s helping us out.

You mentioned your doing the plumbing and solar course. Is solar something you are really interested in?

I have indeed, and hopefully it will pay off for me. It’s the way forward I feel and it’s something people should get into and will pay off in a few years time.

When you have finished your course – is solar energy an area you want to get into?

I’m looking into going into both plumbing and solar panels.

Let’s talk about the theory part of the course. Have you got any studying tips or any ways that you do that work really well?

I tend to study for an hour at a time, with a 15 minute break. And also write key information down in a separate book.

Have you got any advice for people who want to take up plumbing?

I don’t think so, it’s just whether you want to learn something new. If you do, this is the right course for you.
